American Forests is seeking a Restoration Forester, Private Lands (VA) based in Marion to manage hardwood forests on private lands and collaborate with NRCS/DOF. The role involves cost-share programs, silvicultural planning, and working with TNC on regional forest restoration efforts.

The candidate will lead field inventory design, data collection, and contractor coordination, with emphasis on oak silviculture and shelterwood methods. Strong field skills and collaboration are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in forestry or natural resources.
• SAF certification or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• Proficiency with field data collection tools and ArcGIS Pro.

Responsibilities

• Lead and implement forest management plans on private lands.
• Coordinate with NRCS, DOF, and partners for cost-share programs.
• Perform inventory design, data collection, and analysis.
• Support landowner enrollment and contract development.
• Monitor post-treatment outcomes and adapt management.
