Job summary

ServiceMaster DSI in Downers Grove, IL is seeking a Restoration Crew Chief for residential and commercial fire and water cleanup. You will direct, aid and supervise restoration technicians, ensuring quality and on-time project completion.

The role offers on-the-job training, with pay starting at $20–$25 per hour, negotiable by experience. Benefits include health, dental, vision, 401(k) with matching, and generous PTO, plus opportunities for advancement.

Qualifications

• Restoration or carpet and upholstery cleaning experience.
• Crew Chief experience in fire and flood restoration preferred.
• Strong communication skills.
• Valid driver's license.
• Reliable transportation.
• WRT certification is required.
• Ability to travel out of town.
• Able to lift 50+ lbs.
• Background check and drug screen required.

Responsibilities

• Ensure timely, quality completion of restoration projects.
• Direct and supervise Restoration Techs and staff on site.
• Evaluate competence and quality of crew and workmanship.
• Provide ongoing training to crew and staff.
• Maintain security and cleanliness of equipment and supplies.
• Monitor productivity of crew and staff assigned to the project.
• Complete project documentation per established protocols.
• Maintain excellent customer communication and relations.
• Perform other duties as required.

The Position:

We’re looking for a Restoration Crew Chief. This position is for residential and commercial fire and water clean-up and restoration. Job assignments include but are not limited to specialty mitigation services, light demolition, water extraction, carpet and upholstery cleaning, mold abatement, vandalism clean-up, fire and smoke damage mitigation, content move-outs and pack ins, and content cleaning. This position also directs, aids and supervises the Restoration Technicians assigned to the project.

The salary for this position starts at $20-$25 per hour and is negotiable based on experience.

Requirements:

• Restoration or carpet and upholstery cleaning experience
• Previous experience as a Crew Chief in a fire and flood restoration company is highly desired.
• Good communication skills.
• Valid Drivers License
• Reliable transportation
• Previous restoration experience is a plus.
• Ability to travel out of town
• Able to move and/or lift 50+ lbs.
• Pass background check and drug screen
• Water Restoration Tech Certification (WRT)

Responsibilities:

• Ensures the timely quality completion of assigned restoration cleaning, moving, packing, or general labor projects.
• Directs, aids and supervises the Restoration Techs and Staff Laborers assigned to the Restoration Crew Chief by the Project Manager on a per project basis.
• Ensures and evaluates competence and quality of the Restoration Techs and Staff Laborers.
• Ensures and evaluates competence and quality of the Restoration Techs and Staff Laborers.
• Ensures a continuous increase in the knowledge and skill level (training) of the Restoration Techs and Staff Laborers.
• Ensures the security, integrity, and cleanliness of all Company equipment and supplies used on or taken to assigned projects by the Restoration Crew Chief.
• Ensures the productivity of the Restoration Techs and Staff Laborers assigned to the Restoration Crew Chief by the Production Manager.
• Ensures all required restoration project documentation, including forms and photo-documentation, is completed in accordance with established protocols.
• Ensures excellent customer communication and relations.
• Perform other duties as required. These duties may include job functions that are outside the scope of normal job duties.
