Redwood Grill is looking for enthusiastic and professional servers who want to join a talented team in a growing restaurant business. The servers will play a key role in creating a pleasant atmosphere and optimal experience for our guests. We are seeking self-driven individuals who are looking to join a fast paced and dynamic team.

This is a part-time position based in Los Altos.

JOB SUMMARY

The Server will provide friendly, responsive service to create an exceptional dining experience for all of our guests. We are a fast-paced restaurant that values teamwork and commitment. Each server’s primary objective is to show our guests such a marvelous time, they will want to return.

PRIMARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

• Work and act in a manner consistent with the values of Redwood Grill.
• Ensure guests are satisfied with the food and service, responding promptly to correct any problems.
• Take accurate food and beverage orders from guests.
• Prepare checks that itemize and total meal costs and sales taxes and collect payments.
• Maintain knowledge of menus and daily specials, answering questions about menu items and other restaurant functions and services.
• Assist host or hostess by answering phones to take reservations or to-go orders, and by greeting, seating, and thanking guests.
• Perform cleaning duties, such as sweeping and mopping floors, tidying up server station, taking out trash, or checking and cleaning bathroom.
• Perform food preparation duties such as preparing salads, appetizers, and cold dishes, portioning desserts, and brewing coffee.
• Stock service areas with supplies such as coffee, food, tableware, and linens.
• Prepare tables for meals, including setting up items such as linens, silverware, and glassware.
• Clean tables or counters after guests have finished dining.
• Fill-in for fellow employees where needed to ensure guest service standards and efficient operations.
• Attend all scheduled employee meetings and offers suggestions for improvement.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILTIES – REQUIRED

• Basic mathematical skills.

• Must be of legal age according to State regulations to serve alcohol.

• Knowledge of workplace safety procedures.
• Must be able to suggestively sell food and beverage items.
• Able to interact with guests in a friendly/efficient manner.
• State applicable health and/or alcohol compliance card.
• Must be able to use POS system to ring orders and reconcile checks

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Must be of legal age according to State regulations to serve alcohol.
• Moderate English reading and writing skills; ability to follow written and oral instructions and procedures.
• Proficient interpersonal relations and communicative skills.
• Understand and respond to staff and customer requests in a loud environment.
• Continuous physical activity including walking, standing, twisting, sitting, bending, lifting, reaching, kneeling, stooping, crawling, wiping, climbing, pushing and pulling items weighing 30 pounds for distances of up to 20 ft.;
• Visual and hearing acuity; e.g. ability to see and use the POS system.
• Be able to adeptly use a computer and other restaurant equipment;
• Perform basic math and understand basic addition, subtraction;
• Frequently washes hands.
• Ability to be on feet and walk through the restaurant for at least eight hours each day and occasional overtime.
• The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms and taste or smell.
• Able to work overtime occasionally at last minute.
