Job summary

Freddy's Frozen Custard & Steakburgers in Columbia, SC is seeking an Assistant Manager to help lead daily restaurant operations and support the General Manager across people, operations, food safety, guest experience, and overall performance.

You will coach and develop team members, ensure staffing levels meet business needs, and uphold Freddy's standards for quality, cleanliness, and hospitality in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Previous restaurant leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
• QSR or fast-casual restaurant experience preferred.
• Strong leadership, coaching, and communication skills.
• Ability to lead shifts and provide clear direction to team members.
• Basic understanding of labor, food cost, inventory, scheduling, and restaurant operations.
• Strong commitment to food safety, cleanliness, and operational standards.

Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers is seeking a dependable, motivated, and people-focused Assistant Manager to help lead our restaurant team. We're looking for a hands-on leader who enjoys developing people, running great shifts, delivering exceptional guest experiences, and helping drive strong restaurant performance.

As Assistant Manager, you'll work closely with the General Manager to support the people, operations, food safety, guest experience, sales, labor, food cost, inventory, and overall performance of the restaurant.

What You'll Do

As Assistant Manager, you'll support the General Manager in leading day-to-day restaurant operations. You will:

• Lead, coach, develop, and hold accountable Shift Supervisors and team members
• Lead successful shifts and ensure the restaurant is properly positioned and staffed
• Support recruiting, hiring, onboarding, training, and retention of team members
• Help build a positive, respectful, and accountable restaurant culture
• Ensure every guest receives fast, friendly, accurate service and genuine hospitality
• Maintain Freddy’s standards for food quality, preparation, portioning, presentation, cleanliness, and hospitality
• Monitor speed of service and adjust team deployment based on business needs
• Ensure proper food handling, sanitation, temperature control, and food safety procedures are followed at all times
• Ensure required food safety and temperature logs are completed accurately, honestly, and on time
• Immediately address and communicate food safety concerns and ensure unsafe food is never served
• Assist with employee scheduling and maintaining appropriate staffing levels
• Monitor and control labor during assigned shifts while maintaining appropriate service levels
• Assist with food cost, waste, inventory, ordering, and product controls
• Complete inventory counts and other restaurant administrative responsibilities as assigned
• Support proper cash handling, deposits, register controls, and financial procedures
• Coach team members in the moment and address performance concerns promptly
• Train and develop Shift Supervisors and future restaurant leaders
• Handle guest concerns professionally and ensure appropriate resolution
• Maintain restaurant cleanliness, organization, and operational readiness
• Identify equipment and maintenance concerns and communicate them promptly
• Support opening, closing, and shift-change procedures
• Follow and enforce company policies, procedures, and Freddy’s brand standards
• Review restaurant performance with the General Manager and help execute improvement plans
• Assume responsibility for restaurant operations when the General Manager is unavailable
• Lead by example and work restaurant positions alongside the team when needed

What We're Looking For
