Job summary

The Lodge at Pebble Beach is hiring a Host to greet guests promptly, manage seating and assist with dining room activities. You will work as part of a team to ensure guest satisfaction and smooth service flow in a high-end resort setting.

Responsibilities include maintaining cleanliness, checking reservations, guiding guests to tables, and assisting with special events while coordinating with dining room staff. Strong guest-service skills and teamwork are essential.

The Host consistently provides prompt, courteous service by greeting all guests and oversees dining room activities. Interact with guests in a professional and friendly manner, working as a team to ensure guest satisfaction.

• Oversee and assist in maintaining cleanliness of outlet.
• Ensure coverage of the entrance, greeting arriving guests and thanking those that are leaving.
• Assist with special event set-up, such as skirting buffet or inserting menu cards.
• Check reservations in book and assign table numbers. Ensure availability for resort guests.
• Call to confirm large parties.
• Check schedule and staffing levels.
• Check all menus for cleanliness and accuracy.
• Answer the telephone, take reservations and give directions to restaurant.
• Maintain waiting list, select table and escort guests to the table.
• Resolve guest problems whenever possible and involve manager when necessary.
• Schedule reservations according to established procedures.
• Bring guests' needs to the attention of appropriate dining room staff or management.
• Complete daily labor report.
• Check reservations in book and IG, and assign table numbers. Ensure availability for resort guests.
• Check IG for reservations and maintain waves.
• Call to confirm large parties and schedule reservations according to established procedures.
• Maintain waiting list, select table and escort guests to the table.
• Take the guests' food and drink orders when business necessitates
• Monitor alcohol consumption and behavior of guests alerting a manager of any intoxicated or questionable guests.
• Observe guests' progress and respond in a timely way to their needs.
• Clean up spills immediately
• Set-up and break down special events, to include moving tables, chairs and other furniture as necessary.
• Remove used dishes and maintain tables during meal by replacing utensils as necessary and refolding napkins.
• Follow Pebble Beach Company cash handling policies and procedures.
• Comply with all Pebble Beach Company safety, health and general policies and procedures.

Absolutely Required Skills:

• Possesses speed, accuracy and attention to detail.
• Courtesy and anticipation of guests needs are essential.
• Ability to oversee the efficient seating and scheduling of dinner guests.
• Ability to stand for long periods of time.
• Must be able to work as a team with entire floor staff and kitchen staff ensuring timely, efficient service.
• Ability to work in high pressure environment, handling multiple tasks simultaneously.

Desired Skills:

• Working knowledge of point of sale system helpful.
