Job summary

The Fenway Hotel, part of Mainsail Lodging & Development, is seeking a friendly Restaurant Host to warmly welcome guests and seat them efficiently in our dining areas. You will help create a memorable dining experience and work closely with servers and leadership to maintain smooth front-of-house operations.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or higher, hospitality experience, and strong communication skills. Proficiency with tablets and POS systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Welcome guests and seat them promptly with a warm, friendly greeting.
• Converse with guests in a hospitable and informative manner.
• Rotate seats to ensure fairness and efficiency.
• Coordinate with servers and manage front-of-house flow.
• Maintain cleanliness of greeter station and restaurant entry.

About the Role

Restaurant Host will be responsible for greeting and seating all guests in the Restaurant dining areas to ensure each guest is welcomed with a warm, friendly, and enthusiastic greeting and that they are seated as quickly as possible to start their dining experience.

What you have

• High School diploma or higher
• Previous hospitality experience preferred, at least one-year host position in the Macon, GA area preferred
• Excellent customer service skills
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• Ability to use technology e.g. tablets, iPads
• Ability to assist with menu revisions when needed

What you’ll do

• Welcome each guest genuinely and seat them as quickly as possible
• Ability to converse with guests in a friendly, hospitable and informative manner
• Use a rotation method to ensure seating is fair
• Report to work on time and in proper uniform/approved attire
• Work as a team with all team members within the hotel
• Check greeter station assigned for cleanliness of area
• Ensure the front of the restaurant is clean and all objects are dust free
• Check all tables to ensure they are set up and ready to be seated with guests
• Communicate to servers when seating tables
• Assist servers when necessary
• Have knowledge of all areas within the hotel
• Ability to communicate to managers the flow of private dining rooms
• Observe flow of the private dining rooms
• Assist in the detailing of tables and remove items not in use, extra place settings should be removed
• Never solicit tips
• Attend monthly department meetings and daily stand ups
• Perform other duties as management requests to service our guests.
• Ability to use POS (point of sale) system MICROS as well as Yelp reservation system
• Assist managers with daily duties such as scheduling of stations
• Follow the procedures addressed in the training manual

NOTICE: The hotel business functions seven days a week, 24 hours a day. All employees must realize this fact and be aware that at all times it may be necessary to move associates from their accustomed shift as business demands. In addition, this is a hospitality business and a hospitable service atmosphere must be projected at all times.
