Summary

Thompson Houston is now recruiting for Restaurant Hosts. Join our hotel team as we launch a new destination restaurant concept within Thompson Houston Hotel. This position is available to start immediately and will be part of a new restaurant relaunch this summer. The 3-meal dining venue includes an expanded 1-acre pool deck serving hotel guests and residents, luxury cabanas, private event spaces, indoor-outdoor dining areas, and the best views of downtown. Managed by Thompson Houston Hotel and Hyatt Hotels Corporation. We are now hiring all restaurant positions, front and back of house!

Role

The Thompson Restaurant Host is responsible for creating a positive first impression and enhancing the dining experience by providing friendly, efficient service. This leadership role involves welcoming guests, managing table accommodations, offering menu recommendations, and ensuring guest satisfaction. Experience as a restaurant host or hostess is highly valued.

Responsibilities
  • Welcome guests warmly to set the tone for their dining experience.
  • Manage table assignments and seating to optimize flow and satisfaction.
  • Provide menu recommendations and share knowledge about offerings.
  • Act as the final contact point, ensuring all dining needs are met.
  • Lead, train, and support other hosts/hostesses to meet service standards.
  • Coordinate with management to implement seating strategies and manage waitlists.
  • Address and resolve guest concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Maintain knowledge of menu, promotions, and operational details.
  • Organize the greeter stand and ensure backup menus are available.
  • Complete opening and closing duties as per checklists.
  • Follow all service steps with a focus on Forbes Standards.
Qualifications
  • Experience as a restaurant host/hostess or similar guest-facing role.
  • Desire to satisfy others in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective verbal communication skills with diverse guests.
  • Leadership skills to manage and motivate a team.
  • Strong organizational skills to handle multiple tasks.
