Restaurant General Manager - FIVE Chophouse, The Publisher Hotel

Greenwood Hospitality & Hotel Equities, a multi-award-winning hotel development and hospitality management company, is currently searching for a Restaurant General Manager for The Publisher Hotel in Fredericksburg, VA.

Job Purpose:

Plan and manage the restaurant, room service, and other food and beverage outlets to achieve customer satisfaction, quality service, compliance with policies and regulations, and meet/exceed financial goals. Responsible for short-term planning and daily operations of the restaurant and room service, possibly managing a lounge or bar. Recommends promotional ideas and manages budgets. Ensures warm, knowledgeable service and guidance for guests.

Responsibilities include:

  • Managing human resources to attract, retain, and motivate staff; including hiring, training, coaching, performance reviews, and disciplinary actions.
  • Implementing company programs and managing restaurant operations to ensure compliance with SOPs, safety, and regulations, providing high-quality service and hospitality.
  • Forecasting, controlling, and reporting on budgets to maximize revenue and minimize expenses.
  • Responding to customer needs and feedback to enhance guest experience and sales.
  • Creating and implementing promotions and displays to attract guests and increase market share.
  • Monitoring sanitation and maintenance to protect assets and ensure quality service.
  • Working flexible hours, approximately 40-50 hours over five days.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience with Marriott, Hilton, IHG, Wyndham, or Hyatt standards.
  • Knowledge of restaurant/hotel practices, policies, and procedures.
  • Strong communication and management skills.
  • Ability to analyze activities and make recommendations.
  • Decisiveness within policy guidelines.
  • Excellent guest and staff interaction skills, including reading, writing, and basic math.
