Job summary

Mogao Hospitality Group is seeking an experienced General Manager to lead a premier Asian dining and events venue in New York. You will oversee daily restaurant operations, manage both front-of-house and back-of-house leadership, and drive excellence across private events and VIP functions.

Ideal candidates bring 5+ years in restaurant management, strong budgeting and team-building skills, and a track record of delivering outstanding guest experiences in high-volume settings.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of restaurant management experience.
  • At least 2 years as General Manager or senior leader.
  • Proven success in high-volume, banquet, catering, or event-focused hospitality.
  • Strong leadership, communication, coaching, and organizational skills.
  • Experience managing large teams in a fast-paced setting.
  • Experience with budgeting, labor, inventory, and financial reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day restaurant operations ensuring guest satisfaction and excellence.
  • Manage Front-of-House and Back-of-House leadership teams.
  • Plan and execute private events, weddings, business meetings, banquets, catering, and VIP functions.
  • Coordinate kitchen, service, bar, and events teams for seamless service.
  • Manage staffing, scheduling, labor costs, inventory, and efficiency.
  • Monitor sales, labor, food cost, and profitability metrics.
  • Build relationships with corporate clients, planners, and VIP guests.
  • Maintain high standards of hospitality, cleanliness, food quality, and service.
  • Ensure compliance with policies and health & safety regulations.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership on growth initiatives and special projects.

Job description

This is not a traditional restaurant management position. The General Manager will oversee a premier Asian dining destination specializing in banquets, private events, corporate functions, weddings, VIP hospitality, and large-scale celebrations.

We are looking for a proven hospitality leader who is passionate about guest experience, team development, operational excellence, and executing high-profile events. This is an outstanding opportunity to lead one of New York City’s premier Asian dining and event venues while growing with one of the region’s fastest-growing hospitality groups.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead all day-to-day restaurant operations, ensuring exceptional guest satisfaction and operational excellence.
  • Manage and develop both Front-of-House and Back-of-House management teams.
  • Oversee the planning and execution of private events, weddings, business meetings, banquets, catering services, and VIP functions.
  • Ensure seamless coordination between kitchen, service, bar, and event teams.
  • Manage staffing, scheduling, labor costs, inventory, and operational efficiency.
  • Monitor financial performance, including sales, labor, food cost, and profitability.
  • Build and maintain relationships with corporate clients, event planners, and VIP guests.
  • Maintain the highest standards of hospitality, cleanliness, food quality, and service.
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies and local health and safety regulations.
  • Work closely with executive leadership on business growth initiatives and special projects.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years of restaurant management experience.
  • At least 2 years of experience as a General Manager or senior restaurant leader.
  • Demonstrated success managing high-volume restaurants, banquet facilities, catering operations, or event-focused hospitality businesses.
  • Strong leadership, communication, coaching, and organizational skills.
  • Proven ability to manage large teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with budgeting, labor management, inventory control, and financial reporting.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays when business demands require.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bilingual in English and Mandarin Chinese is a strong plus.
  • Experience managing upscale Asian restaurants or fine dining concepts.
  • Extensive experience with private dining, weddings, corporate events, catering, and large banquet operations.
  • Familiarity with restaurant POS systems, scheduling software, and operational reporting.
Ideal Candidate
  • The ideal candidate has experience managing restaurants generating $4 million+ in annual sales, or has successfully led venues that regularly host banquets, weddings, private events, or corporate functions serving 150–500+ guests.
  • You are a hands-on leader who enjoys building strong teams, solving operational challenges, delivering exceptional hospitality, and creating memorable guest experiences.
Compensation & Benefits
