Job summary

Vail Resorts in United States (Champion) seeks a Host/Hostess for the Winter Seasonal 2026/2027. The role handles guest flow, reservations, and front-of-house support to ensure a smooth dining experience.

Starting wage is $20/hr with both full-time and part-time hours. Must be 18+. Housing is not provided. Benefits include training, and opportunities for growth within the resort. Apply for this seasonal frontline position.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules including nights and weekends.
  • Experience in customer service is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Warmly greet guests upon arrival and thank them upon departure.
  • Escort guests to tables and provide menus.
  • Answer questions about the menu and restaurant information.
  • Manage seating chart and monitor table availability.
  • Take reservations and manage waitlists during peak times.
  • Provide wait time estimates and maintain a comfortable waiting area.
  • Assist other staff and perform opening/closing duties.
  • Ensure health and sanitation standards are followed.

The Host/Hostess is the first point of contact for guests and plays a vital role in creating a welcoming and positive dining experience. This position is responsible for managing guest flow, handling reservations, and supporting front‑of‑house operations to ensure smooth service and guest satisfaction.

Job Responsibilities
  • Warmly greet guests upon arrival and thank them upon departure.
  • Escort guests to their tables and provide menus.
  • Answer initial questions about the menu, specials, and general restaurant information.
  • Manage seating chart and monitor table availability for balanced server workload.
  • Take and confirm reservations; manage waitlists during peak times.
  • Provide accurate wait time estimates and maintain a comfortable waiting area.
  • Answer phone calls professionally and assist with inquiries.
  • Maintain a clean and organized host stand, entryway, and waiting area.
  • Assist other staff as needed (e.g., bussing tables, folding silverware, running food, processing payments via POS).
  • Perform opening and closing duties as assigned.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and sanitation standards.
Job Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure.
  • Team-oriented mindset and willingness to assist others.
  • Physical stamina to stand and walk for extended periods.

The expected pay range is $20/hr. This is the pay range we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.
