Job summary

Vail Resorts is hiring for Lead Server and several winter seasonal positions for 2026/27. Enjoy some of the industry's highest pay, free passes for employees, discount lift tickets for friends and family, and extensive training through Epic Service.

Roles include full-time seasonal shifts with housing available and a focus on guest service in a mountain setting. Requirements include high school diploma, English communication, and tipping knowledge.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Able to communicate in English.
  • TIPS certification required – will provide TIPS training within 30 days of hire if necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for strong food knowledge of menu items and drinks.
  • Handles opening/closing duties, stocking, setting tables, and dining room cleanliness.
  • Uses suggestive selling techniques to upsell products.
  • Proactively sells beer, wine, liquor, and food to guests.
  • Communicates information with Restaurant Manager and Food & Beverage team.
  • Multitasks at a fast, thorough pace and completes assigned side work.
  • Attends daily pre-shift meetings and staff meetings.
  • Has comprehensive wine/liquor knowledge and adheres to state liquor laws.
  • Ensures compliance with state health regulations.
  • Handles cash and credit cards with honesty, including tip distribution.
  • Creates a friendly, fun bar environment and checks server paperwork.
  • Prints Shift Reports and resets; trains new staff on IG and policies.
  • Completes other duties as assigned.

Job Specifications
  • Starting Wage: $12.14/hr – $16.79/hr
    • If hired into a tipped position, guaranteed to make a minimum of $20/hour, inclusive of tips
  • Employment Type: Winter Seasonal 2026/2027

Job Responsibilities
  • Responsible for having a strong food knowledge base and a detailed understanding and memorization of the current menu items, including all alcoholic and non‑alcoholic drinks, food, and specials.
  • Handles all opening and closing duties required to operate the restaurant, ensuring that all stocking is done, tables are properly set, and the dining room is clean.
  • Actively uses suggestive selling techniques while always trying to upsell our products.
  • Proactively sells beer, wine, liquor, and food to guests sitting in the dining area.
  • Communicates all necessary and important information with the Restaurant Manager and the entire Food and Beverage team.
  • Capable of multitasking and working at a fast but thorough pace.
  • Completes all side work that has been assigned.
  • Attends the daily pre‑shift meeting to learn any important daily information and any other scheduled staff meetings.
  • Has comprehensive wine and liquor knowledge and adheres to all state liquor laws.
  • Ensures that all state health regulations are being adhered to.
  • Handles cash and credit card processing with honesty and fairness, including tip out to bartenders and food runners at the end of shift.
  • Is enthusiastic and interactive to help portray a friendly, fun, and exciting bar environment.
  • Checks/Signs off on server side work.
  • Ensures server paperwork is accurate and complete.
  • Prints Shift Reports and resets.
  • Trains new staff on IG and restaurant policies and flow.
  • Completes other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Able to communicate in English.
  • Ability to communicate in Spanish – preferred.
  • Prior serving experience.
  • Able to lift at least 50 lbs.
  • Able to stand for long periods of time.
  • TIPS certification required – will provide TIPS training within 30 days of hire if necessary.

The expected pay range is $12.14/hr – $16.79/hr. This is the pay range we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.
