Job summary

Runway Services, based in Columbus, OH, is seeking a seasoned accountant to own the month-end close for restaurant and franchise clients. You will finalize financials and discuss numbers directly with owners, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

Requirements include 3–6 years of full-cycle accounting, restaurant or franchise experience, payroll know-how for tipped wages, and proficiency in QuickBooks Online or Restaurant365 with strong Excel skills.

Qualifications

• 3–6 years of full-cycle accounting experience, including owning month-end close.
• Restaurant or franchise accounting experience.
• Experience with daily sales posting from POS data and GL reconciliation.
• Payroll experience covering tipped wages and overtime.
• Proficiency in QuickBooks Online or Restaurant365 and Excel (PivotTables & VLOOKUP).
• Accounting degree or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Own month-end close: accruals, prepaids, balance sheet reconciliations, and financial statements.
• Reconcile the month’s POS sales to bank deposits, credit card settlements, and third‑party platforms.
• Reconcile cash, comps, voids, discounts, gift cards, and paid-outs.
• Code accounts payable and manage vendor terms for client accounts.
• Build monthly reporting on sales, food & beverage cost, and labor cost.
• Ensure payroll is reflected correctly in the financials, including tipped employees, overtime, and tip allocation.
• Walk restaurant owners through their own numbers in plain language.

Job description

Runway Services runs the accounting, payroll, and back-office operations for restaurants and hospitality groups. We were built by operators who have lived it: the late close, the tip pool that will not balance, the P&L that shows up three weeks after anyone could act on it.

This role carries a book of restaurant and franchise clients in Columbus. You will own their month-end close, finalize their financials, and talk to their owners directly.

What You'll Do

• Own month-end close: accruals, prepaids, balance sheet reconciliations, and financial statements
• Reconcile the month's POS sales to bank deposits, credit card settlements, and third-party delivery platforms
• Reconcile cash, comps, voids, discounts, gift cards, and paid-outs
• Code accounts payable and manage vendor terms for client accounts
• Build monthly reporting on sales, food and beverage cost, and labor cost
• Make sure payroll is reflected correctly in the financials, including tipped employees, overtime, and tip allocation
• Walk restaurant owners through their own numbers in plain language

What You'll Bring

• Three to six years of full-cycle accounting experience, including owning month-end close
• Restaurant or franchise accounting experience
• Time in the trenches: you understand daily sales posting from POS data and POS to general ledger reconciliation
• Working hours in restaurant POS systems
• Payroll experience covering tipped wages and overtime
• QuickBooks Online, Restaurant365, or a comparable system, plus Excel at the pivot table and lookup level
• Accounting degree or equivalent experience
