Job summary

The Ford Foundation’s Information Technology team seeks an Associate Director, Responsible AI Solutions to lead the development and implementation of ethical AI solutions that align with our mission. Reporting to the CITO, the Associate Director partners with staff and external vendors to design scalable AI systems that balance ethical principles with real-world impact.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of related professional experience and a degree in Computer Science, AI, ML, or related field.
• Strong proficiency in Python and AI frameworks, with ML/DL/NLP expertise.
• Experience with Generative AI, LLMs, LangChain, and RAG concepts.
• Cloud deployment on GCP/AWS/Azure and production-level AI systems.
• Knowledge of data processing tech (SQL, Hadoop, Spark) and AI Ops.
• Ability to translate complex AI concepts for executives.

Responsibilities

• Oversee AI portfolio management and cross-functional alignment within IT.
• Develop and implement ethical AI solutions balancing impact and risk.
• Shape and refine the foundation's AI strategy with senior leaders.
• Draft governance, safety policies, and use-case criteria for Responsible AI.
• Evaluate models, optimize performance, and manage vendor relationships.
• Build AI literacy and responsible innovation across the organization.
• Communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
