Triumvirate Environmental, Inc. is seeking a Response Technician for our Northampton, PA office to join a hands-on field team handling emergency spills and environmental cleanup.

You will assist with containment, waste handling, and equipment setup under supervision, with 24/7 response availability and a strong emphasis on safety and regulatory compliance. The role requires physical labor, on-call flexibility, and the ability to travel as needed.

Qualifications

  • Willingness to participate in on-call schedule and respond during non-standard hours.
  • Travel overnight as needed.
  • Physically able to perform outdoor labor and lift up to 60 pounds.
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Able to follow direction independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, DOT, FMCSA, RCRA, CAA, CWA and similar safety regulations.
  • Proficient with basic computer tasks and safety systems.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to emergency spills and environmental cleanup projects, including 24/7/365 response coverage.
  • Assist with spill containment, cleanup, decontamination, and hazardous/non-hazardous waste handling.
  • Set up, operate, and breakdown response equipment (pumps, hoses, absorbents, containers).
  • Operate hand, power, and cutting tools as trained.
  • Load, unload, label, and stage materials and equipment.
  • Manage drums and containers per procedures and regulations.
  • Work safely in hazardous environments and interact with emergency services as directed.
  • Complete field documentation and equipment inspections.
  • Maintain clean and safe work areas and vehicles.
  • Follow safety policies and supervisor directions and use PPE.
  • Participate in training and maintain applicable certificates.
  • Support Waste Management and Field Services as needed.

Job description

Triumvirate Environmental, one of North America’s leading environmental services firms, is seeking a Response Technician to join our team in Northampton, PA.

The Response Technician assists with emergency spill response, environmental cleanup, waste handling, equipment setup, and general field support under the direction of experienced technicians and supervisors. Reporting to the Response Operations Manager, this role provides hands-on experience while developing response skills, safety awareness, and knowledge of environmental regulations and company procedures.

This role is onsite and is based out of our Northampton, PA office location.

Responsibilities
  • Respond to emergency spills and environmental cleanup projects as assigned, including 24/7/365 response coverage, nights, weekends, holidays, and other non-standard hours.
  • Assist with spill containment, cleanup, decontamination, environmental remediation, and hazardous and non-hazardous waste handling.
  • Set up, operate, and break down response equipment, including pumps, hoses, absorbents, containers, and tools.
  • Operate hand, power, and cutting tools as trained and authorized.
  • Load, unload, label, stage, and handle materials, containers, tools, and equipment.
  • Support drum and container management in accordance with company procedures and applicable regulations.
  • Work safely in a variety of environments, including those involving chemicals, hazardous materials, confined spaces, and other challenging field conditions.
  • Interact professionally with emergency services and regulatory agencies, as directed.
  • Complete required field documentation, equipment inspections, and Daily Work Records.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas, vehicles, and equipment.
  • Follow all safety policies, site requirements, and supervisor direction, and properly use required PPE.
  • Participate in required training and maintain applicable certificates.
  • Support Waste Management and Field Services departments as needed.
Basic Requirements
  • Willingness and ability to participate in an on-call schedule and respond to emergencies outside of normal business hours.
  • Ability to travel overnight as needed.
  • Ability to perform physical labor and work outdoors in a variety of conditions.
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to follow direction while working independently and as part of a team.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA, DOT, FMCSA, RCRA, CAA, CWA, and other applicable environmental and safety regulations.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office and safety management systems.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship or future sponsorship.
  • Must have a reliable form of transportation
  • Must be willing to consent to Motor Vehicle Record screening, criminal background check, pre-employment physical, and drug screen (inclusive of THC)
  • Upon employment, you will be required to participate in a random drug screening program (inclusive of THC) as part of our company’s commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy work environment
  • Must be able to lift 60 pounds on a regular basis
  • Ability to work overtime on a regular basis
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours within the work week (Monday through Friday)
  • Must be able to report to Northampton office within 1 hour during Emergency Response situations
  • The Response Technician frequently handles hazardous chemicals and biological waste and is responsible for putting on and taking off personal protective equipment. This role is considered safety-sensitive.
Preferred Requirements
  • 1–3 years of experience in EHS, environmental remediation, construction, industrial services, transportation, or a related field.
  • Active 40-hour HAZWOPER certification.
  • Experience with hazardous waste operations, environmental remediation, transportation, industrial services, or construction.
  • Prior relevant industry experience
  • Active HAZWOPER 24 or 40 hour certification
  • Willingness to obtain Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
