Job summary

Lutheran Services in Iowa (LSI) is seeking part-time Respite Providers to give families a break in the Council Bluffs area. Up to 29 hours per week, flexible scheduling, some evenings and weekends, with opportunities to work from home after training.

You’ll support parents or guardians of individuals with disabilities, document timekeeping, and maintain reliable communication with families. A high school diploma or GED is required; experience with disabilities is preferred; basic computer skills

• Provide respite care to give families a break for individuals with disabilities.

Looking for a job that makes a difference in the lives of local families? LSI currently seeks part-time (up to 29hrs/week) Respite Providers to provide respite care services in the Council Bluffs area. (Looking for provider in any of the following counties: Pottawattamie, Harrison, Mills, Montgomery, Cass and/or Shelby) The purpose of respite care is to give the parent or primary caregiver a break from the daily responsibilities of caring for a child or adult with a disability.

Flexible hours! You set your own schedule working directly with families and can work from home after initial trainings. Will need to be available for some evenings, weekends and hours that family would like to use respite. This position is great for college students, builds experience, and it is great for someone looking to give back or have a little extra supplemental income. Consistent communication required.

DUTIES

If you are a great communicator, appreciate setting your own schedule, and are passionate in serving others, being a Respite Provider may be for you. You will be providing a break for the parent or guardian of an individual a disability. You may provide Respite a few hours in the evening up to a full weekend. Your schedule will be dependent upon the family's need and your desire to serve. If you are a person that is able to communicate with others, regardless of the other person's communication skills, this may be your opportunity to help a family in need of a break from 24/7 care and supervision of their loved one.

QUALIFICATIONS

Qualified applicants will have a high school diploma or GED. Experience working with people with disabilities preferred. Must have some basic computer knowledge/skills. Need access to computer, tablet or cellphone to do documentation and punching in and out for timekeeping.
