Job summary

Eliot Community Human Services in Lowell, MA is seeking a dedicated Respite Peer Specialist to support adults with serious mental illness in short-term recovery. You will provide guidance, build trusting relationships, and help clients connect with community resources.

This position offers a Monday–Friday, 11am–4pm schedule, with an hourly rate of $20. A high school diploma is required, along with a valid driver's license and a commitment to personal recovery.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or GED.
• Valid driver’s license and a reliable vehicle.
• Must be receiving mental health services or have previously received services and have self-knowledge to manage their mental illness with an established recovery process.

Responsibilities

• Assist consumers with identifying personal methods of recovery from mental illness and developing self-management plans.
• Participate in the development of Individualized Action Plans (IAPs) and assist with self-management planning.
• Assist consumers in integrating into communities by supporting use of resources, encouraging memberships, and reducing stigma.
• Provide side-by-side interventions focusing on problem solving, skills training, modeling behavior, optimism and encouragement.
• Assist consumers in moving toward goals and developing skills for more independent living.
