Job summary

Covenant Health's Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge is seeking a Respiratory Therapy Intern to support the Respiratory Department. The intern will handle equipment cleaning, assembly, stocking, and transport, with no direct patient care until TN licensure is obtained.

Role requires enrollment in a CoARC approved Respiratory Therapy Program, active second-year status, and current BLS. It is a PRN/occasional shift position with variable scheduling.

Qualifications

• Enrollment in a CoARC approved Respiratory Therapy Program (current and active).
• Must be a second year student.
• One year of clinical and didactical completion of a Respiratory Therapy program.
• Current BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Maintains respiratory equipment including cleaning and disinfection per procedures.
• Responsible for oxygen tank stocking and replacement as needed.
• Maintains equipment setup and delivery to designated areas.
• Maintains communication with respiratory practitioners for equipment needs.
• Assists therapists with transport of ventilated patients and responds to equipment requests.
• Performs chart reviews to assist RTs under supervision.
• Attends required meetings and participates in quality initiatives.
• Follows policies, safety standards, and completes education assignments annually.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
