Columbia County Health System is seeking an experienced and compassionate Respiratory Therapy Manager to provide leadership and clinical oversight for our Respiratory Therapy Department at Dayton General Hospital.

The Respiratory Therapy Manager is responsible for the overall direction and daily operations of the Respiratory Therapy Department, while also remaining connected to patient care and the clinical needs of the organization. This position provides leadership to Respiratory Therapy staff, promotes high standards of patient care and safety, supports regulatory compliance, and works collaboratively with physicians, nursing leadership, hospital administration, and other clinical departments.

Key Responsibilities

Department Leadership & Operations

  • Provide leadership, direction, and oversight for the Respiratory Therapy Department.
  • Coordinate the day-to-day operations of Respiratory Therapy services to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care.
  • Provide guidance, coaching, and support to Respiratory Therapy staff while promoting accountability, teamwork, and professional development.
  • Assist with department staffing, scheduling, workflow, and coverage to meet patient care and organizational needs.
  • Participate in the recruitment, orientation, training, and ongoing development of Respiratory Therapy team members.
  • Collaborate with hospital leadership regarding departmental goals, staffing needs, performance, equipment, and operational priorities.
  • Promote a positive, professional, and patient-centered department culture.

Clinical Leadership & Patient Care

  • Maintain strong clinical knowledge and provide direct respiratory therapy services when needed.
  • Ensure respiratory treatments, medications, procedures, and interventions are performed safely and in accordance with established standards of care.
  • Serve as a clinical resource for Respiratory Therapy staff and other members of the healthcare team.
  • Work collaboratively with physicians, nursing staff, and other clinical departments to support coordinated patient care.
  • Educate patients and families regarding respiratory conditions, treatments, equipment, and ongoing care as appropriate.
  • Demonstrate sound clinical judgment and respond appropriately to changing patient conditions and emergent situations.

Quality, Safety & Compliance

  • Maintain and promote high standards of patient safety, clinical quality, and regulatory compliance.
  • Ensure department policies, procedures, documentation, and clinical practices remain current and consistent with organizational and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor departmental quality measures and identify opportunities for process and performance improvement.
  • Maintain accurate and complete clinical documentation and ensure appropriate charting standards are followed throughout the department.
  • Support hospital quality initiatives, accreditation requirements, and regulatory surveys as applicable.
  • Ensure Respiratory Therapy equipment and supplies are properly maintained, inspected, stored, and available for safe patient care.
  • Assist with evaluating equipment needs, supply utilization, and departmental resources.

Qualifications

  • Active Washington State Respiratory Therapist license
  • Current ACLS preferred
  • Current BLS certification, renewed every two years
  • Previous Respiratory Therapy clinical experience required
  • Previous leadership, supervisory, lead, or management experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of respiratory therapy practices, equipment, medications, patient safety, and clinical standards
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and support a team in a professional healthcare environment
  • Strong communication, organization, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with physicians, nursing staff, hospital leadership, patients, and multidisciplinary teams
  • Dependable, professional, and committed to delivering high-quality patient care
