Job summary

Memorial Hospital West in Pembroke Pines, Florida, seeks a Respiratory Therapist Extern to support Respiratory Therapists with procedures and equipment management across areas of the hospital.

The extern assists with cleaning and disinfecting equipment, patient transport, and patient education on COPD, asthma, and smoking cessation under RT supervision. EKG testing and inventory duties are included as part of the role.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent is required.
• ACLS American Heart E-Card, ACLS AHA-RQI ECARD, ACLS RC/GRACE certifications listed.
• BLS American Heart E-Card and related Bates/E-card certifications listed.

Responsibilities

• Cleans and disinfects respiratory equipment and supplies.
• Assists with transporting patients.
• Assists with patient education for COPD, Asthma, and smoking cessation.
• Performs EKG testing as delegated.
• Exchanges and restocks medical gas tanks and logs.
• Maintains and checks emergency and intubation carts and logs.
• Delivers equipment and assists RTs in assigned areas.
• Maintains respiratory inventory in designated areas.
• Keeps patient rooms stocked, clean, and orderly.
