Job summary

Prisma Health in the United States seeks a Respiratory Care student or new graduate to perform respiratory therapy procedures under supervision, following physicians’ orders and department policies. You will document, bill, and educate patients and families as part of a collaborative care team.

ADot responsibilities include reporting to supervisors and completing blood gas analyses where applicable, while maintaining infection control protocols and equipment disinfection between patients.

Qualifications

• Education - Currently enrolled in an approved school for respiratory care; OR new/recent graduates of a school of respiratory care who are awaiting credentialing.
• Experience - No experience required.

Responsibilities

• Performs respiratory therapy procedures in accordance with physician’s orders, departmental policy, and Respiratory Care Guidelines.
• Documents and charges for respiratory care procedures and provides patient and family education.
• Communicates well with supervisors, therapists and technicians and provides a complete and accurate report.
• May perform blood gases from all sites and analyzes and reports results.
• Adheres to infection control and quality initiatives; cleans/disinfects equipment between patients as indicated.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Summary

Performs duties necessary to treat patients in accordance with the physicians’ orders and department policy. Performs all procedures under the supervision of a Respiratory Therapist. Job duties will be assigned based on student’s clinical progression and competency validation.

Essential Functions

• Performs respiratory therapy procedures in accordance with the physician’s order, departmental policy, and the Respiratory Care Guidelines (RT Consult). May not take verbal orders or modify orders.
• Documents and charges for respiratory care procedures and provides patient and family education.
• Communicates well with supervisors, therapists and technicians. Provides a complete and accurate report
• May perform blood gasses from all sites. Analyzes and reports results.
• Adheres to infection control and quality initiatives. Performs appropriate cleaning/disinfection of equipment between patients as indicated by equipment type and isolation status.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervisory/Management Responsibilities

• This is a non-management job that report to a supervisor, manager, director or executive.
