Job summary

Prisma Health’s Oconee Memorial Hospital in Seneca, SC, is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to provide general and critical care procedures in accordance with physician orders and department policy. The role covers patients of all ages, including infants and geriatrics, with a focus on safety and quality care.

The candidate must hold SC Respiratory Care Practitioner license and RRT, with BLS and NBRC credentials maintained.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree from an accredited Respiratory Care program.
• In lieu of an associate degree, diploma and/or experience may be considered.
• SC Respiratory Care Practitioner license and RRT credentials, plus BLS and NBRC must be maintained.

Responsibilities

• Acts independently to perform respiratory care procedures in accordance with physician order and departmental policy.
• Able to obtain blood gases from all sites and analyze/report results accurately.
• Initiate, monitor and manage patients requiring all types of invasive and non-invasive ventilation.
• Initiate and manage all types of airways and related equipment.
• Document and charge for respiratory care procedures, and educate patients and families as appropriate.
• Communicate effectively with the health care team and provide complete, accurate reports.
• Adhere to infection control and quality initiatives; clean/disinfect and sterilize equipment as required.

Job Summary

This position performs duties necessary to treat patients in accordance with the physician’s order and departmental policy. Works independently in all acute and critical care settings. Consults with physicians and other personnel and makes recommendations on treatment as appropriate. Must possess skills necessary to treat patients of all ages to include infants, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. Accountabilities

• Acts independently to perform respiratory therapy general and critical care procedures in accordance with the physician’s order, departmental policy, and Respiratory Care guidelines or protocols. - 30%
• Able to obtain blood gasses from all sites. Analyzes and reports results accurately. – 10%
• Able to initiate, monitor and manage patients requiring all types of invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation. - 20%
• Able to initiate and manage all types of airways and associated equipment. - 10%
• Accurately and completely documents and charges for all respiratory care procedures and tasks and provides patient and family education as appropriate. - 10%
• Effectively communicates with all members of the healthcare team to include students and nurse shadows. Provides an accurate and complete report. Makes recommendations as appropriate. Communicates well with supervisors, coordinators, or those acting in lieu of the above. – 10%
• Adheres to infection control and quality initiatives. Performs appropriate cleaning/disinfection and sterilization of equipment between patients as indicated by equipment type and isolation status. - 10%
• Acts as a good steward of resources, including supplies, time/productivity, etc – 10%

Minimum Requirements

Associate's Degree - Graduate of a Respiratory Care Program by an accredited school

In lieu of associate degree will consider diploma and/or experience.

Required Certifications, Registrations, Licenses

South Carolina Respiratory Care Practitioner license

Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)

BLS

NBRC (credentials must be maintained)

Other certifications dependent on work unit : NRP, PALS, ACLS, NPS

ACLS required within the first year for adult care areas

NRP and PALS required in the Children's Hospital prior to working independently in the NICU and PICU
