An established industry player in healthcare is seeking a dedicated Respiratory Therapy Assistant to support respiratory care services. The Respiratory Therapy Assistant provides support for respiratory care services for the treatment of patients with disordered respiratory physiology under the direction of a registered respiratory therapist. Responsible for delivering varied oxygen devices on a timely basis. The respiratory therapy assistant performs hospital-wide rounds on a daily basis to monitor and provide service to patients using respiratory support devices. Supports the respiratory therapists, nurses, and physicians with their equipment/supplies needs, work lists, workload data throughout Mayo Clinic. Assists with department communications and provides information management and data entry for department billing, QA database, and in support of research studies. Member of the hospital Code 250 team, performing CPR as required. Assists with equipment set up and cleaning. May assist in the Bronchoscopy Suite if needed.
Must be enrolled in an accredited Respiratory Care Program.
Minimum educational level is a high school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) plus acute care experience in a direct patient care role. Must be able to perform CPR and have CPR Certification.
Must have good verbal and communication skills. Ability to interact with a variety of individuals. Have strong independent problem solving skills to respond to unpredictable situations. Maturity, initiative, commitment to patient and customer service, and good judgment are required. Ability to work harmoniously in a team environment. Expected to follow proper precautions to avoid potential exposure to infectious agents, hazardous substances, noise, and heat. Good manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination to work with equipment. Must be able to differentiate medical life support gases. Previous knowledge of medical terminology/abbreviations strongly preferred.
