Qualifications

• Current and in good standing state license.

Respiratory Therapy Adjunct

South College is seeking candidates for an adjunct faculty position for the Respiratory Therapy Program.

The Respiratory Therapy Faculty is responsible for teaching respiratory therapy courses, providing continuous review of the curriculum with the Program Director and DCE, developing student assessment and critical thinking skills, and assisting in the lab and clinical experience.

The adjunct instructor is a contract employee, based on quarterly program needs, sponsored by South College. The adjunct instructor assumes responsibility for scheduled didactic and laboratory courses in the Respiratory Therapy Program.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate professionalism and provide quality customer service in accordance with South College’s values
• Coordinating and evaluating students during laboratory courses
• Assist the Program Director with fiscal planning and recommending the purchase of supplies and equipment
• Attending advisory committee meetings
• Teaching program courses as needed according to specified learning outcomes
• Academic advising and career related counseling for students
• Exhibit flexibility, willingness to learn, and ability to change
• Monitoring student retention and identifying and assisting students at‑risk
• Maintaining professional development in current healthcare trends, research, issues and practices (2 per year)
• Maintaining faculty development in current teaching strategies and assessment methods (2 per year)
• Providing support for programmatic and institutional initiatives

• Must provide and possess effective leadership and proficiency in instructional methodologies, ongoing evaluation and assessment, instruction, education, and counseling for respiratory therapy.

• Must have a minimum of two (2) years of experience teaching either as an appointed faculty member in a CoARC accredited respiratory care program or as a clinical instructor/preceptor for students of such programs.
• Must possess a current and in good standing state license.
