Job summary

Responsibilities include arterial line sampling, CPR, patient education, and collaboration with Rapid Response Teams. Nebraska Licensed Respiratory Therapist credentials required with active NBRC RRT certification.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an AMA program of Respiratory Care required.
• Licensure to practice respiratory care in the State of Nebraska required.
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential required.
• Must maintain an active RRT credential through the NBRC.
• Basic Life Support (CPR) certification required.
• ACLS within six months of hire; PALS preferred for Pediatrics/ED.

Responsibilities

• Initiates assessment and reassessment based on pulmonary condition.
• Monitors and administers respiratory care modalities; records therapy outcomes.
• Develops plans for delivery of respiratory care as directed by physician or protocols.
• Contacts providers regarding changes in patient condition and treatment needs.
• Performs arterial phlebotomy; collects arterial samples.
• Provides ventilator management including non-invasive modes and advanced modalities if competency allows.
• Assists with intubation and airway management as needed.
• Participates in Rapid Response Teams (BRRTs) and patient transport supervision.
• Provides patient/family education and discharge planning.
