Job summary

ChildServe in Johnston, IA is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to provide professional respiratory care for children, teens, and young adults within inpatient services, including pediatric rehabilitation and long term complex medical units.

You will work a weekend night schedule 6:00pm-6:30am with differential pay and comprehensive benefits. Iowa licensure and CPR/BLS certification are required; pediatric ventilator experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Certification from an accredited respiratory therapy program and current licensure in Iowa.
• Current CPR/BLS certification from ARC or AHA.
• Ventilator experience is required.
• Pediatric experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide full range of respiratory therapy care per physician orders and care plan.
• Maintain accurate, timely records per standards and ChildServe policies.
• Communicate professionally with children, families, school personnel and staff to ensure care needs are met.
• Stay current with unit and ChildServe information.
• Provide respiratory training to children, families, and staff as needed.
• Demonstrate stewardship of equipment and environment.

Job description

We’re looking for a Respiratory Therapist to join our team and provide professional respiratory care for children, teens, and young adults. This role is an essential part of our multidisciplinary team within our inpatient services, including pediatric rehabilitation and long term complex medical units.

Schedule/Benefits

• Weekend package, 6:00pm-6:30 am.
• Either Fri, Sat, Sun or Sat, Sun, Monday
• Night shift and weekend differentials paid on top of base salary.
• Benefit eligible including medical, dental, vision plans, retirement with company match and generous PTO accrual including 16 hours of PTO front-loaded

How You’ll Make an Impact

• Within the respiratory therapy scope of practice, physician’s orders, and the child’s care plan, make decisions and deliver a full range of respiratory therapy care based on the fundamentals of the respiratory therapy care.
• Maintain accurate, completed, and timely records as defined by respiratory therapy standards of practice and ChildServepolicies and procedures.
• Communicate effectively, respectfully, and professionally with children, physicians, families, school personnel, ChildServestaff, and others to assure assigned child’s care needs are assessed, communicated, and met.
• Stay current with all unit and ChildServespecific information.
• Provide respiratory and related training to children, families, and staff as needed to help advance the skills and knowledge of all people associated with a child’s care delivery.
• Demonstrate good stewardship of ChildServeequipment, supplies, and environment.

What You’ll Need

• Certification from an accredited respiratory therapy program and current licensure to practice in the state of Iowa
• Documentation of current CPR/BLS certification from American Red Cross or American Heart Association
• Ventilator experience
• Pediatric experience preferred
