Job summary

Vibra Healthcare Abilene is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to work under the Respiratory Therapy Manager in a Long Term Acute Care setting. You will set up and operate respiratory care equipment to diagnose and treat respiratory disease, care for adults and geriatrics, and document patient responses.

Qualifications

• Must be credentialed by NBRC as CRT or RRT.
• High School diploma or equivalent.
• BLS required; ACLS certification within 90 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Provide care for adults and geriatrics (18+).
• Explain treatments and document education in patient chart.
• Perform physician prescribed therapies including nebulizers and oxygen delivery.
• Set up, operate and monitor ventilators; assist in weaning per protocol.
• Maintain ventilation during CPR and intubate as needed.
• Document treatments and patient responses; update MARs.
• Perform tracheostomy care and tube changes per policy.
• Handle respiratory equipment cleaning, sterilization and transport.
• Complete rounds and monitor equipment per schedule.
• Maintain knowledge of blood gas analysis and equipment.
