As a Respiratory Therapist, you'll provide life-enhancing respiratory care across the continuum of care while supporting patients with acute, chronic, and emergent respiratory conditions. Working collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary team members, you'll play a vital role in improving patient outcomes and promoting respiratory wellness.
What You'll Do
- Assess, treat, and monitor patients with respiratory, cardiopulmonary, and related conditions across inpatient, outpatient, emergency, and procedural settings.
- Administer respiratory therapies, medications, oxygen therapy, and mechanical ventilation management in accordance with physician orders and organizational standards.
- Perform respiratory assessments and diagnostic procedures, including arterial blood gas collection, pulse oximetry, pulmonary function testing, and related respiratory care services as assigned.
- Monitor patient response to treatment interventions and communicate significant findings to physicians, nurses, and healthcare team members.
- Respond to emergency situations, including Code Blue activations, airway management needs, and rapid response events.
- Educate patients and families regarding respiratory conditions, treatment plans, equipment usage, and disease management strategies.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation within the electronic medical record.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, performance improvement activities, infection prevention efforts, and patient safety programs.
- Maintain and troubleshoot respiratory equipment to ensure operational readiness and patient safety.
- Support a collaborative team environment while delivering compassionate, patient-centered care.
What You'll Bring
Required Qualifications
- Current Respiratory Therapist licensure.
- Current Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential.
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Commitment to patient-centered care, quality outcomes, and patient safety.
- Ability to work effectively in fast-paced and changing clinical environments.
Preferred Qualities
- Acute care hospital experience.
- Emergency Department, ICU, or critical care experience.
- Pulmonary function testing experience.
- Sleep medicine or cardiopulmonary rehabilitation experience.
- Advanced airway management experience.

Physical Requirements

- Patient transport, positioning, and respiratory treatment responsibilities.
- Ability to respond rapidly during emergency situations.
- Operation of respiratory equipment and monitoring devices;
Education, Certifications & Licensure
- Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program.
- Current CRT or RRT credential required.
- Current state licensure as a Respiratory Therapist required.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification preferred.
- Continuing education and competency requirements maintained as required.
