Job summary

MercyOne Health System in Clinton, IA, is hiring a Respiratory Therapist to provide basic and advanced respiratory care to neonatal, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients in alignment with departmental standards.

The registered therapist collaborates with physicians and nurses, performs assessments and diagnostics, educates patients and staff, and participates in quality assurance and leadership activities within the Respiratory Therapy Department.

Qualifications

• Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care upon hire.
• Licensed as an RCP in the State of Iowa within one year of hire.
• BLS certification within 3 months of hire.
• ACLS certification within one year of hire.
• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program.

Responsibilities

• Consults with physicians and nurses on respiratory care plans and implements orders.
• Assess patients and evaluate respiratory care needs, communicating with physicians.
• Educates patients, families, and staff on respiratory therapies and device use.
• Performs diagnostic procedures including oximetry, capnography, arterial puncture, vent waveform analysis, and pulmonary function testing.
• Executes emergency and acute respiratory care procedures per guidelines and policies.
