Job summary

Sweetwater Care in Abilene, TX is seeking a Respiratory Therapist (RT) for our Long Term Acute Care (LTAC) unit. You will provide ventilator management, tracheostomy care, weaning support, and patient/family education to patients with prolonged illnesses.

The role requires an Associate’s degree in Respiratory Therapy (Bachelor’s preferred) and current RRT licensure. ACLS and BLS certifications are expected; LTAC or similar hospital experience highly preferred.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree required; Bachelor's preferred.
• RRT licensure or equivalent.
• ACLS and BLS certifications (AHA).
• Experience in ventilator and trach care (LTAC or similar) preferred.
• Strong assessment, communication, and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

Key Duties

• Administer respiratory treatments (meds, aerosol, chest physio, suctioning)
• Perform diagnostic procedures (ABGs, pulse-oximetry, pulmonary function tests)
• Educate patients/families on care and safety
• Document care, maintain equipment, follow protocols & infection control

Requirements

• Associate’s degree in Respiratory Therapy (Bachelor’s preferred)
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or equivalent state licensure
• ACLс, BLS certification (AHA)
• Experience in ventilator and trach care (LTAC or similar highly preferred)
• Strong assessment, communication, and teamwork skills
