Job summary

Sweetwater Care in Dallas, TX is seeking a dedicated Respiratory Therapist for our LTAC unit to provide comprehensive respiratory support. You will manage invasive and non-invasive ventilation, care for tracheostomies, and educate patients and families on respiratory care.

The ideal candidate holds an Associate degree in Respiratory Therapy with RRT licensure, ACLS/BLS certification, and LTAC or similar experience. Strong assessment and teamwork are essential in this role.

Qualifications

• Requires an associate degree in respiratory therapy.
• Current RRT or equivalent state licensure.
• ACLS and BLS certification per AHA standards.
• Experienced in ventilator and trach care, LTAC or similar setting preferred.
• Strong assessment, communication, and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Initiate and monitor invasive and non-invasive ventilation.
• Manage tracheostomies and artificial airways.
• Administer respiratory treatments and suction as needed.
• Perform diagnostic tests such as ABGs and pulse oximetry.
• Educate patients and families on respiratory care and safety.
• Document care, maintain equipment, and follow infection control protocols.

Job description

Respiratory Therapist (RT) – Long Term Acute Care (LTAC)

Provide respiratory care for patients with prolonged acute illness—ventilator management, trach care, weaning, and patient/family education—in a long-term acute care hospital.

Key Duties

• Initiate/monitor mechanical ventilation (invasive & non-invasive)
• Manage tracheostomies and artificial airways
• Administer respiratory treatments (meds, aerosol, chest physio, suctioning)
• Perform diagnostic procedures (ABGs, pulse-oximetry, pulmonary function tests)
• Educate patients/families on care and safety
• Document care, maintain equipment, follow protocols & infection control

Requirements

• Associate’s degree in Respiratory Therapy (Bachelor’s preferred)
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or equivalent state licensure
• ACLс, BLS certification (AHA)
• Experience in ventilator and trach care (LTAC or similar highly preferred)
• Strong assessment, communication, and teamwork skills
