Job Summary:

The respiratory therapist performs all respiratory care diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. They should be energetic, motivated, and refer to supervisory personnel when in doubt.

Job Responsibilities and Requirements:

1. Demonstrate professionalism and promote a culture of safety. Performs therapeutic and diagnostic maneuvers in accordance with policies, including oxygen therapy, aerosolized medication, CPT, IPV, ventilator setup, CPR, ABG analysis, pulse oximetry, and nitric oxide studies.
2. Assess and reassess patient needs: Monitor vital signs, breath sounds, oxygen requirements, sputum, and other patient-specific data to tailor therapy.
3. Special duties: Respond to critical areas, assist with procedures, perform bedside studies, and interpret lab data.
4. Perform all other respiratory care duties: Attend meetings, record keeping, communicate with physicians, and ensure compliance with policies.
5. Safety/Infection Control: Follow safety protocols, practice universal precautions, and complete mandatory training.
6. Service Excellence: Provide courteous, respectful, and high-quality care.
7. Quality Improvement: Contribute to quality assessment and report issues.
8. Age-Appropriate Care: Provide care tailored to infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.
9. Specialized Care: Handle high-risk patients, manage pain, and recognize abuse signs.

Job Specifications: Graduate of an AMA-approved school, registered with NBRC, licensed in Missouri, with leadership skills desirable. Must demonstrate high-quality therapy skills, be energetic, and support a growing service.

Working Conditions: Exposure to infectious diseases, hazardous gases, and emergency situations. Requires protective equipment and physical stamina.

Required Licenses/Certifications: BLS, RRT, Respiratory Care Practitioner license in Missouri.

Physical Requirements: Heavy lifting, prolonged standing, manual dexterity, and visual acuity.
