Responsibilities

POSITION SUMMARY:

1. Performs routine and intensive therapy and diagnostic procedures.
2. Maintains respiratory equipment and ensures ventilator and life support equipment are operable.
3. Provides routine respiratory patient assessments.
4. Performs invasive procedures such as ABGs and assists with intubation.

Qualifications

• Must be licensed by the State of Texas to perform Respiratory Care under the Respiratory Care Practitioners Act and hold a temporary permit until a permanent RCP license is obtained.
• Must demonstrate commitment to STHS’s Compliance Program and Code of Conduct, adhering to all policies and procedures, attending required training, and reporting compliance issues.

Education / Licensure

• High School diploma, GED, or higher education required.
• Completion of an accredited Respiratory Program and eligibility through the N.B.R.C. (via certification program, traditional or non-traditional).
• At least one year of clinical experience in all modes of respiratory care.
• Current Texas RRT license.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications, maintained throughout employment.
• PALS and NRP certifications within six months of hire, maintained thereafter.
