Job summary

South Texas Health System seeks a licensed Respiratory Care professional to perform routine and intensive respiratory therapy, assess patients, and maintain ventilator and life-support equipment. The role includes assisting with invasive procedures such as ABGs and intubation.

Candidates must hold a Texas RRT license, current BLS, ACLS, and obtain PALS and NRP within six months of hire. A respiratory program completion and NBRC eligibility are required; compliance with all policies is expected.

Qualifications

• Must be licensed by the State of Texas to perform Respiratory Care under the Respiratory Care Practitioners Act.
• Must demonstrate commitment to Compliance Program and Code of Conduct.
• Completion of an accredited Respiratory Program and NBRC eligibility via traditional or non-traditional program.
• Currently licensed by the state of Texas as RRT.
• Must have and maintain a current BLS certification.
• Must have and maintain a current ACLS certification.
• PALS and NRP within six months of hire date and current thereafter.

Responsibilities

POSITION SUMMARY:

Performs routine and intensive therapy and diagnostic procedures. Maintains respiratory equipment. assures ventilator and life support equipment are operable. Provide routine respiratory patient assessment. Performs some invasive procedures such as ABGs and will assist with intubation.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Must be licensed by the State of Texas to perform Respiratory Care under the guidelines of the Respiratory care Practitioners Act and holds a temporary permit until such permanent (RCP) license is obtained.

2. Must demonstrate commitment and adherence to STHS’s Compliance Program and Code of Conduct through compliance with all policies and procedures, the Code of Conduct, attendance at required training and immediately reporting suspected compliance issue(s) to the Compliance Officer.

EDUCATION / LICENSURE:

1. High School diploma, GED or Higher Education required.

Completion of an accredited Respiratory Program for and eligibility through the N.B.R.C. via one of the following:

a. Certification program either through a traditional or non-traditional program.

b. Experience: at least one year clinical experience in all modes of respiratory care (credit for course work in school allowed).

2. Currently licensed by the state of Texas as RRT.

3. Must have and maintain a current BLS. Certification must be in accordance with the curriculum of the AHA, for Healthcare Provider’s Program.

4. Must have and maintain a current ACLS. Certification must be in accordance with the curriculum of the AHA, for Healthcare Provider’s Program.

5. PALS and NRP within six (6) months of the hire date and current thereafter. Certification must be in accordance with the curriculum of the AHA, for Healthcare Provider’s Program.
