Job summary

FullShift Staffing is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to independently perform respiratory care procedures, interpret physician orders, assess resident needs, deliver prescribed therapy, and evaluate resident response. The role serves as consultant, educator, and clinician to clinical staff.

The candidate will perform ventilator-related care, airway management, and monitoring, while coordinating with nursing leadership to integrate respiratory care into daily practice and to train staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Currently certified as CRT or RRT in the state where practiced.
• Current BLS required; ACLS preferred.
• Finger Print Card Clearance current.
• TB test within the last year.
• Physical within the last 6 months.
• COVID vaccination card.
• Ventilator unit experience required; LTC or skilled nursing preferred.
• Effective communication with residents, families, staff, physicians, consultants, providers, and agencies.
• Knowledge of local, state and federal guidelines in the current state.

Responsibilities

• Promotes healing of acutely ill residents through respiratory care and education.
• Administers respiratory care including intermittent and continuous therapy, ventilation, airway management, and monitoring.
• Sets up and administers medical gases, humidification, aerosols, medications, ventilatory support, and airway management as related to home environment.
• Oversees rehab department clinical management, including case management, quality improvement, care planning, and clinical utilization.
• Ensures rehab department administrative activities including reimbursement, billing, and records.
• Collaborates with nursing leadership to integrate respiratory care into daily practice; trains staff.
• Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates respiratory therapy care and life support.
• Coordinates equipment orders and documents from referral sources, physicians, residents/families, or caregivers.
• Communicates changes in resident condition to physician and care team; adjusts care plans as needed.
• Develops discharge plans for residents.
• Tracks preventative maintenance and follow-up on respiratory equipment.
• Assesses developmental needs for all ages and adjusts care accordingly.
• Provides general medical equipment and supplies as ordered by a physician.
• Other duties as assigned.
