Job summary

Los Alamos Medical Center, part of Lifepoint Health, seeks a Respiratory Therapist (RRT) for a full-time night-shift role in Los Alamos, NM. The position involves 3 twelve-hour shifts weekly with rotating weekends, providing essential pulmonary support and patient care.

Responsibilities

• Measures lung capacity and analyzes blood samples using a blood gas analyzer.
• Delivers and assesses response to ordered therapy per plan of care; monitors patient condition.
• Evaluates respiratory care policies and procedures based on outcomes and best practices.
• Responds to codes and calls for emergent assistance; delivers appropriate treatment.
• Educates the patient and family about illness and community resources.
• Monitors, stocks, and distributes respiratory care supplies and medical gas cylinders.
• Maintains storage areas with required supply levels and equipment.
• Disassembles, cleans, sterilizes equipment and performs maintenance/calibration.

How you'll contribute

A Respiratory Therapist (RRT) who excels in this role:

• Measures lung capacity and analyzes blood samples using a blood gas analyzer.

• Delivers and assesses response to ordered therapy per plan of care. Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate.

• Evaluates respiratory care policies and procedures based on patient outcomes, current research, and best practices.

• Responds to codes and calls for emergent assistance. Assesses patient condition and delivers appropriate treatment.

• Educates the patient and family about the patient's illness and provides information about community support groups and other resources.

• Monitors, receives, stocks, and distributes respiratory care supplies and medical gas cylinders.

• Maintains storage areas with required supply levels and equipment.

• Disassembles, cleans, and sterilizes equipment, and performs preventative maintenance and calibration of machines.

What we're looking for

Applicants should have a current New Mexico Respiratory Therapist license be a licensed RRT with the National Board for Respiratory Care. Additional requirements include:

• Education: high school diploma/GED or associate degree.

• Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) within 90 days of hire.
