Job description

Job Title: Respiratory Therapist - Respiratory Therapy - FT - Mixed (7463-12655)

Description:

  1. Measures lung capacity and analyzes blood samples using a blood gas analyzer.
  2. Delivers and assesses response to ordered therapy per plan of care. Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate.
  3. Evaluates respiratory care policies and procedures based on patient outcomes, current research, and best practices.
  4. Responds to codes and calls for emergent assistance. Assesses patient condition and delivers appropriate treatment.
  5. Educates the patient and family about the patient's illness and provides information about community support groups and other resources.
  6. Monitors, receives, stocks, and distributes respiratory care supplies and medical gas cylinders.
  7. Maintains storage areas with required supply levels and equipment.
  8. Disassembles, cleans, and sterilizes equipment, and performs preventative maintenance and calibration of machines.

Qualifications:

Minimum Education:
Graduate of a school of Respiratory Therapy.

Required Skills:
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Certifications:
AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire.
AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) within 30 days of hire.
AHA Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 6 months of employment.
AHA Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) within 6 months of employment.

Note: PALS and NRP not required for Cardiopulmonary Rehab RRTs or Physician Practice RRTs.

Required Licenses:
[ North Carolina, United States ] Respiratory Therapist - Registered Respiratory Therapist.
Credentialed with the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) required.

Work Schedule: Full-time, Variable shift, 10+ hr/shift, weekdays only.
