Job Summary:

Responsible for assistance in the development of the department by efficient delivery of cardiopulmonary care. Under medical supervision, the respiratory therapist will be responsible for the delivery of cardiopulmonary services to patients in all areas of the facility. The therapist is expected to perform duties and responsibilities with only minimal or indirect supervision and must frequently make independent decisions. Standards of performance as determined by the Respiratory Therapy Department must be maintained.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Provide oxygen administration
2. Arterial puncture and blood gas analysis
3. Ventilator management
4. Non-invasive ventilator management
5. Aerosolized medication
6. Pulse oximetry
7. Chest physiotherapy
8. Airway management
9. Responds to Codes
10. Attend high-risk births
11. Perform EKG's as needed

TECHNICAL CAPABILITIES:

1. Respiratory Therapeutic Procedures (Novice): Possesses sufficient fundamental proficiency to successfully demonstrate respiratory therapeutic procedures in practical applications of moderate difficulty.
2. Airway Establishing / Manual Resuscitation (Novice): Possesses sufficient fundamental proficiency to successfully demonstrate airway establishing / manual resuscitation in practical applications of moderate difficulty.
3. Ventilator Management (Novice): Possesses sufficient fundamental proficiency to successfully demonstrate ventilator management in practical applications of moderate difficulty. Generally works under the direction of others while accomplishing assignments.
4. Laboratory Testing & Analysis (Novice): Demonstrates sufficient knowledge of the primary laboratory tests required by the department to successfully meet work objectives. Understands the core functions and features of the core laboratory tests. Able to interpret results of the test under general supervision.
