Position Overview

The Respiratory Therapist will assist in developing the department by delivering cardiopulmonary care efficiently. Under medical supervision, responsibilities include providing cardiopulmonary services across various hospital areas, with minimal supervision and independent decision-making. Adherence to departmental performance standards is required.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide oxygen therapy
• Perform arterial puncture and blood gas analysis
• Manage ventilators and non-invasive ventilation
• Administer aerosolized medications
• Monitor pulse oximetry
• Perform chest physiotherapy and airway management
• Respond to emergency codes
• Attend high-risk births
• Perform EKGs as needed

Note: The sign-on bonus does not apply to current or recent VUMC staff (within 12 months). Full-time positions only.

Technical Capabilities

Qualifications

Licensed as a Registered Respiratory Therapist in Tennessee. Less than 1 year of relevant work experience. Graduate from an approved discipline-specific program.
