Position Summary
Assesses, treats, and cares for patients with breathing disorders. Initiates and conducts therapeutic procedures; maintains patient records; and selects, assembles, checks, and operates equipment.

- Schedule: 3x12-hour Night shifts
Responsibilities
Essential Functions
- Demonstrates competency in respiratory therapeutics and in the use of non-invasive ventilators, pulmonary diagnostics, and other equipment required for respiratory care.
- Maintains accurate documentation.
- Shows strong analytical reasoning and blends patient care management with technical skills.
- Communicates effectively with the healthcare team.
- Proficient in quality control and maintenance of blood gas analyzers, specimen collection, and analysis.
- Maintains punctual attendance as per hospital policies and standards.
- Ensures compliance with all hospital policies and procedures.
Other Related Functions
- Provides age-appropriate care based on patient’s medical condition.
- Demonstrates expertise in medical gas administration, environmental control, humidification, medication delivery, invasive and non-invasive ventilatory support, and CPR.
- Provides care in non-critical and intermediate care units.
- Performs duties as a preceptor, mentor, educator, and clinical specialist as per the RRT Clinical Ladder program.
- Instructs clinical practicum students.
- Assesses patient data to determine care needs based on age and development.
Qualifications
Education/Training
- Associate of Science in Respiratory Care or related field. Prior licensing accepted if completed before December 31, 1987.
- Advanced critical care training as defined by Orlando Health’s Respiratory Clinical Ladder.
- Basic computer and mechanical skills required.
Licensure/Certification
- Active Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) license from Florida.
- RRT credential from NBRC, maintained every five years if registered after July 1, 2002.
- Current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification.
- Advanced Life Support as required.
- Preferred: Active memberships in AARC and FSRC.
