Job summary

MedStar Health in Dundalk, MD is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to provide care across patient populations per physician orders and established protocols. You will operate and monitor equipment including ventilators, perform spirometry, blood gas analysis, and ensure patient safety during all therapies.

The position requires an Associate's degree in respiratory care (AAS acceptable), CRT, and NBRC licensure with ACLS/NRP/PALS within one year.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree from an AMA‑accredited program in respiratory care with an AAS degree or higher required.
• CRT license required; RRT preferred.

Responsibilities

• Contributes to department goals and adheres to policies, procedures, quality and safety standards.
• Assesses the physical, psychosocial, spiritual, and cultural dimensions of the patient and documents educational needs.
• Performs respiratory therapy treatments and services; operates and monitors equipment (ventilators, oxygen, humidity, spirometry, blood gas analysis).
• Uses therapeutic communication, interviewing, problem‑solving and crisis intervention during patient care.
• Reviews EMR and physician orders during shifts.
• Responds to CPR and supports airway management and ventilation as needed.
• Facilitates workflow efficiency by monitoring interdepartmental systems and proposing improvements.
• Complies with policies, standards and utilizes resources effectively.
