The role you’ll contribute:

The Respiratory Therapist III provides routine, emergent, and critical cardiopulmonary care under the direction of a physician to neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. Takes responsibility as Lead Therapist, covering in a supervisory capacity in the absence of a Lead Therapist. Adheres to the Corporate Compliance Plan, rules and regulations of all local, state, and federal agencies, and standards of accrediting bodies. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and maintains respectful relationships with all.

The value you’ll bring to the team:
  • Supervises the delivery of cardiopulmonary care in accordance with applicable policies and procedures. Ensures effective assessment and reassessment by monitoring patient progress. Recommends changes in respiratory care plans based on medical necessity and established protocols.
  • Monitors, instructs, and coaches patients before, during, and after treatment. Prevents and resolves side effects. Adjusts therapies according to protocols and clinical data such as pulse oximetry, peak flow, chest x-ray, lab results, etc.
  • Serves as a resource to staff, trains and instructs cardiopulmonary and other staff, and may serve as instructor for BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP. Supports staff development and high morale.
  • Initiates and maintains mechanical ventilation, determining ventilator modes and settings, reevaluating interfaces regularly, troubleshooting alarms, and facilitating weaning processes.
Qualifications

The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:

  • Minimum of 3 years hospital experience as RRT or over 8 years as CRT, with at least 1 year in critical care.
  • Graduate of an approved respiratory care program; Associate degree or equivalent required.
  • Registered (RRT) or certified (CRT) prior to 2000 by the National Board for Respiratory Care.
  • Current BLS certification required.
  • ACLS certification obtained within 90 days of employment.
  • PALS and/or NRP certification obtained within 90 days of employment if required by the hospital.
  • Valid Florida license issued by the Agency for Healthcare Administration of Florida.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Demonstrates exceptional clinical skills with potential leadership qualities.
