The role you’ll contribute:

Under the supervision of the Cardiopulmonary Director, the Respiratory Therapist is responsible for providing cardiopulmonary care services according to physician’s orders, department policies, and procedures. Performs diagnostic tests of cardiovascular and pulmonary systems to aid in diagnosis and treatment of heart and lung disorders. Participates in CQI/Performance improvement activities within the department.

• Maintains knowledge of oxygen delivery methods and equipment, assesses for side effects.
• Administers respiratory therapy treatments, understanding their purposes and side effects.
• Sets up and monitors mechanical ventilators and performs related critical care duties such as airway management and tracheal suctioning.
• Performs arterial punctures for blood gas analysis, understanding potential complications and contraindications.

Qualifications

• 2-year Associate Degree
• Internship/Clinical experience relevant to the course of study
• Two or more years of experience
• Registrations – Registered Respiratory Therapist or Certified Respiratory Therapist, CPR
