Job summary

Hospice Savannah is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to care for patients with breathing challenges in Savannah, GA. You will provide respiratory services under physician orders to enhance quality of life and support the Hospice Savannah mission.

The role requires RN/RT licensure, CPR certification, and two years of acute care experience. Travel up to 200 miles per week and documentation duties are associated with this position.

Qualifications

SUMMARY

The Respiratory Therapist cares for patients who have trouble breathing. The Respiratory Therapist provides respiratory services to patients under orders from the referring physician, so that the quality of the patients’ life may be enhanced. The Respiratory Therapist is committed to the philosophy, goals and objectives of while consistently demonstrating the Hospice Savannah values and compliance with organization’s service excellence standards.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program.
• Must be Registered and Board Certified in Respiratory Therapy.
• State licensure required.
• Two years of acute care experience required.
• Ability to successfully interact with patients, families, physicians, Hospice Savannah staff, and the community along with excellent customer service, assessment and documentation skills required.
• Must possess the ability to develop working relationships with a diverse patient/family population requiring excellent communication, problem solving skills and professional demeanor.
• Current CPR certification required.
• Valid driver's license, automobile insurance and reliable transportation required.
• Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office and database knowledge required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Position requires moderate visual concentration for charting/documentation and computer work. Position carries a risk of exposure to infectious diseases requiring standard safety precautions. May be required to lift up to 20 lbs. with no heavy lifting required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position works part-time 16-29 hours/week. The Respiratory Therapist may be required to provide care in what has been determined by local authorities as a high-risk crime area. This position encounters stressful situations with patients and their families regarding end of life care and the Respiratory Therapist must be able to accurately, timely and concisely document the patient/family encounter using a computer. The Therapist performs client visits utilizing their personal vehicle. This position requires a moderate amount of travel that may exceed 200 miles per week.
