Corewell Health Pennock Hospital in Hastings, MI is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for a part-time, night shift position. In this role you will evaluate patients’ respiratory needs, provide advanced care, document thoroughly, and educate patients and families about respiratory health.

The ideal candidate holds an Associate’s Degree in Respiratory Therapy, has NBRC credentials, and is licensed in Michigan. BLS/NRP/ACLS are required, with an emphasis on safety and teamwork in a 12-hour weekly

Qualifications

• Required Associate's Degree in Respiratory Therapy.
• Preferred Bachelor's Degree in Respiratory Therapy.
• Two years of experience in pulmonary rehabilitation or related respiratory care.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and determine respiratory care needs and document according to policy.
• Perform advanced evaluation and therapeutic procedures for patients requiring respiratory support.
• Document education, competencies, and billing accurately.
• Ensure smooth transitions to referral services and provide patient education.
• Instruct and train staff and students in respiratory care needs.

Scope of Work

• Performs evaluation to determine respiratory care needs, and makes appropriate recommendations and changes in accordance with policy and protocol guidelines. Assesses effectiveness of treatment and accurately documents according to department and legal/regulatory standards. Performs point of care testing as required.

• Performs advanced evaluation, management and therapeutic procedures (interventions) for patients requiring respiratory assistance. Assesses effectiveness of intervention and accurately documents according to department and legal/regulatory standards.

• Completes and documents required education and competencies within designated timeframe. Maintains competency in areas of accountability.

• Accurate and timely completion of all necessary documentation and billing.

• Facilitates a smooth transition for the patient to appropriate referral services / the next point of service / home and provides education to patients and families as it relates to respiratory issues.

• Instructs and trains other respiratory care staff, nursing and other medical personnel and students regarding patient needs and respiratory care services.

Qualifications

• Required Associate's Degree Respiratory Therapy

• Preferred Bachelor's Degree Respiratory Therapy

• 2 years of relevant experience pulmonary rehabilitation, respiratory care, sleep medicine or equivalent clinical education

• LIC-Respiratory Therapist - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required

• CRT-Respiratory Therapist Registry - NBRC National Board for Respiratory Care Upon Hire required

• CRT-Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) - AHA American Heart Association Regional Hospitals and NICU 90 Days required

• CRT-Adv Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - AHA American Heart Association Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehab 90 Days required

• CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association 90 Days required Or

• CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC American Red Cross 90 Days required

• Ideal candidate will be a Registered Respiratory Therapist or RRT

• RT Students, CRTs, and/or RRTs may apply
