Job summary

Lubbock Heart & Surgical Hospital seeks a dedicated Respiratory Therapist to join our team for the night shift. You will provide pulmonary care for inpatients and outpatients, administer therapies, and assist with critical procedures in a hospital setting.

The role requires Texas licensure in Respiratory Care, BLS certification (ACLS preferred), and 3–5 years of clinical experience. Join a physician-owned environment focused on quality outcomes and professional development.

Qualifications

  • Must be registered and licensed by the state of Texas in Respiratory Care.
  • BLS certification; ACLS preferred.
  • 3–5 years combined clinical experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provide therapeutic and diagnostic pulmonary care for inpatients and outpatients 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.
  • Administer therapeutic medical gases, delivering aerosol therapy, administering prescribed pharmacological medications, and evaluating and reporting the effectiveness of the prescribed therapy to the physician, as well as other health care workers.
  • Assist with procedures used for long and short-term continuous ventilation, airway management, pulmonary postural drainage or chest physiotherapy, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
  • Assist in diagnostic and therapeutic testing techniques i.e.: Pulmonary Function testing/Bronchoscopies/EKG/ABG/Exercise and Nocturnal oximetry studies.
  • Assist with the patient’s oronasal and/or tracheal suctioning.
  • Keep adequate and accurate records of the patient’s therapy and other department records as required.
  • Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her assigned unit, possessing the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements. Providing the care needed as described in the unit’s/area’s department’s policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and competencies initially and annually.

We are looking for a dedicated Respiratory Therapist like you to join our Lubbock Heart team.

What You Will Do In This Role

What Qualifications You Will Need
  • Must be registered/and or certified and licensed by the state of Texas in Respiratory Care. Registration by the National Broad for Respiratory Care (NBRT) or registry eligibility is also required.
  • Must be BLS Certifies and prefer ACLS certification.
  • Three to Five (3 – 5) years combined clinical experience.
Your Shift: Full time Nights (1730-0600)

Lubbock Heart & Surgical Hospital specializes in the care of cardiac, orthopedic, nephrology, urology, and general medical patients. We are also a highly active inpatient center mainly centered on surgical procedures that include cardiothoracic, orthopedic, urology, and general surgery. We have a 24-hour Emergency Department with 5 fully equipped ED rooms, 4 fully operating OR rooms, 4 cardiac catherization labs with 1 electrophysiology room, 11-day surgery rooms, 58 acute care beds spread over three units, and 16 cardiac critical care rooms. We pride ourselves on giving the best overall care possible to our patients and on our family style atmosphere that includes everyone: patients and their families, physicians, and our employees.
