Job summary

Thomas Jefferson University Hospitals, Inc. in Philadelphia is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist to administer respiratory therapies, assess patients, and collaborate with physicians to determine and monitor treatment plans. You will document care, ensure quality standards, and support patient discharge through thorough evaluation and communication.

This role offers a $15,000 sign-on bonus. Candidates should have an AMA-approved respiratory care program, NBRC registration within 2 years

Qualifications

• Graduate of an AMA approved School of Respiratory Care.
• Licensed by the State Board of Medicine or State Board of Osteopathic Medicine.
• Certified in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS).
• Associate's/2-year degree required. Registered by the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) or must obtain NBRC registration within 2 years of hire.
• ACLS and/or NALS preferred.

Responsibilities

• Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.
• Administers physician prescribed respiratory therapy, including oxygen, respiratory medication, PFTs, ABGs, and all mechanical ventilation.
• Performs evaluation procedures to determine respiratory care needs and makes recommendations to improve outcomes and discharge.
• Monitors patients on mechanical ventilation including assessment, rounds, troubleshooting, weaning and airway care.
• Collects and analyzes sputum, blood and breath specimens for diagnosis and measures lung capacity.
• Offers diagnostic results and treatment suggestions based on analysis.
• Communicates with health care team for continuity of care and coordination.
• Ensures smooth operation of PFT and ABG lab and other duties as assigned.
