Job summary

Baylor Scott & White Health in Dallas, TX is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist for FT-Night shifts. This role requires advanced knowledge of cardiopulmonary care and delivering evidence-based therapies to optimize patient outcomes.

The Therapist will work with physicians and the care team to implement treatment plans, perform and supervise respiratory care procedures, and participate in quality improvement while maintaining compliance with regulatory policies.

Qualifications

• General understanding of respiratory care modalities, therapies, equipment, and medications.
• Ability to read, write and follow flow chart protocols.
• Ability to work under stressful conditions.
• Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills.
• Basic computer skills and electronic medical documentation.

Responsibilities

• Performs and directs the administration of respiratory care services as ordered by the physician, including oxygen therapy, aerosol therapy, inhaled meds, airway clearance, invasive and non-invasive ventilation and bedside spirometry; administers CPR in emergencies.
• Reviews physician orders, analyzes patient test results, and provides appropriate therapy based on clinical condition; implements approved protocols as directed by physician.
• Performs routine and advanced respiratory therapy, prioritizing patient needs in a rapidly changing environment.
• Instructs patients in the use of respiratory care equipment and assesses response to therapy; coaches patients to improve technique.
• Documents all treatments, supplies used, and files charges; reports outcomes of interventions and makes recommendations.
• Adheres to policies including infection control, HIPAA, attendance, and social media policies.
• Works with other staff, healthcare professionals, and students; takes initiative to meet leadership requirements.
• Incorporates continuous quality improvement in all aspects of clinical care.
