Job summary

Carlton at the Lake, located on Chicago's Near North Side, offers comprehensive post-acute and rehabilitation services with a caring, compassionate team. We are seeking a Respiratory Therapist to join a dynamic therapy department and contribute to high standards of patient care in a vibrant community setting.

The role emphasizes developing care plans, conducting respiratory therapies, documenting findings, and collaborating with clinicians to support residents’ well-being.

Qualifications

• As a minimum, an associate’s degree from a CoARC-accredited educational institution.
• CRTT, CRT, RRT, or CCT certification is required.
• BLS/ACLS certification and an active Illinois Respiratory Therapist license.
• Five (5) years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist is preferred.

Responsibilities

• As a Respiratory Therapist you are the backbone of the Therapy Department, developing the respiratory care plan and determining the appropriateness of prescribed therapy.
• Initiating, conducting, and modifying prescribed therapeutic and diagnostic procedures and documenting information in the patient’s medical record.
• Communicating with the health care team to ensure residents receive high-quality, safe care.

As a Respiratory Therapist you are the backbone of the Therapy Department. Your work will ensure our residents receive the high standard of care they have grown to expect at The Carlton by utilizing scientific and clinical principles for the identification, prevention, remediation, and rehabilitation of acute or chronic cardiopulmonary dysfunction, reviewing existing data, collecting additional data, and recommending to obtain data to evaluate the respiratory status of patients, developing the respiratory care plan, and determining the appropriateness of the prescribed therapy. Initiating, conducting, and modifying prescribed therapeutic and diagnostic procedures. Documenting necessary information in the patient’s medical record and communicating information to members of the health care team. Our residents will depend on your knowledge, skills, and attention to detail to ensure they are comfortable and safe.

To be eligible for consideration for the Respiratory Therapist role, applicants should have:

As a minimum, an associate’s degree from a CoARC-accredited educational institution, one of the following certifications: CRTT, CRT, RRT, CCT, must have BLS/ACLS certification and an unencumbered State of Illinois Respiratory Therapist License. Five (5) years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist is preferable but we are willing to invest in the right candidate!
