Novant Health seeks a PRN Neonatal/Pediatric Registered Respiratory Therapist II (RRT) at Hemby Children's Hospital in Charlotte, NC. This role supports NICU and pediatric patients with a 7am–7pm PRN schedule.

You’ll join a compassionate, collaborative team delivering respiratory care, education, and critical support, with opportunities for growth, mentoring, and specialty training within a mission-driven culture.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 2 year / Associate Degree required.
• 4 year / Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
• Current RCP licensure in the appropriate state required.
• Registered Respiratory Therapist Credential required.
• New graduates must obtain the RRT credential within twelve months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Advocate for patients and families, incorporating education into the interdisciplinary care plan.
• Prioritize duties based on patient needs and acuity, ensuring timely completion of care interventions.
• Administers and evaluates medication therapies, performs patient transfers and transports.
• Evaluate patient needs and provide routine respiratory care and higher levels of care in critical situations.
• Demonstrates independence in the Respiratory Care specialty and adheres to state requirements.
• Critical care: ventilator management, code blue, airway management, blood gas analysis interpretation.
• Document care in accordance with hospital policy and regulatory requirements.

What You'll Do

• Acts as a patient advocate for the patient and their support system by incorporating education in the interdisciplinary care plan.
• Prioritize job duties according to patients' needs and changing acuity levels and ensures timely completion of care interventions, medical orders, etc.
• Administers and evaluates medication therapies, performs patient transfers and transports patients.
• Ability to evaluate patient needs and provide appropriate routine respiratory care such as ABGs, bronchial hygiene therapy, etc., as well as perform higher levels of care in critical care areas and emergent situations.
• Demonstrates independence in the specialty of Respiratory Care. Practices according to state requirements and standards.
• Critical Care Specific: Ventilator management, code blue, airway management, interpretation and intervention with blood gas analysis, use of all related protocols for patient care.
• Document care in accordance with hospital policy and regulatory requirements.

What We're Looking For

• Education: High School Diploma or GED, required. 2 Year / Associate Degree, required. 4 Year / Bachelors Degree, preferred.
• Licensure/Certification: Current RCP licensure in appropriate state, required. Registered Respiratory Therapist Credential, required.
• Additional Skills/Requirements (required): New graduates of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program are required to obtain the Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential within twelve (12) months of their date of hire.
