Job summary

Novant Health seeks a Neonatal/Pediatric Registered Respiratory Therapist II (RRT) for the NICU/Peds specialty at Hemby Children’s Hospital in Charlotte, NC. The role is part-time with a 7pm–7am night shift in the Respiratory - NICU/Peds department at Presbyterian Medical Center, Charlotte, NC.

As a patient advocate and essential team member, you will provide routine and specialty respiratory care, participate in education for families, and support the care plan across multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 2 Year / Associate Degree required.
• 4 Year / Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
• Current RCP licensure in appropriate state required.

Responsibilities

• Act as a patient advocate and include education in the interdisciplinary care plan.
• Prioritize duties according to patient needs and acuity, ensuring timely interventions.
• Administer and evaluate medications and perform patient transfers as needed.
• Provide routine respiratory care (ABGs, bronchial hygiene) and manage higher levels in critical care as required.
• Demonstrate independence in Respiratory Care and comply with state requirements and standards.
• In Critical Care, manage ventilators, airway management, blood gas interpretation, and related protocols.
• Document care in accordance with hospital policy and regulatory requirements.

What You’ll Do

• Acts as a patient advocate for the patient and their support system by incorporating education in the interdisciplinary care plan.
• Prioritize job duties according to patients’ needs and changing acuity levels and ensures timely completion of care interventions, medical orders, etc.
• Administers and evaluates medication therapies, performs patient transfers and transports patients.
• Ability to evaluate patient needs and provide appropriate routine respiratory care such as ABGs, bronchial hygiene therapy, etc., as well as perform higher levels of care in critical care areas and emergent situations.
• Demonstrates independence in the specialty of Respiratory Care. Practices according to state requirements and standards.
• Critical Care Specific: Ventilator management, code blue, airway management, interpretation and intervention with blood gas analysis, use of all related protocols for patient care.
• Document care in accordance with hospital policy and regulatory requirements.

What We’re Looking For

• Education: High School Diploma or GED, required. 2 Year / Associate Degree, required. 4 Year / Bachelors Degree, preferred.
• Licensure/Certification: Current RCP licensure in appropriate state, required.
